Mary Ann Dunn, SNJM
Mary Ann is the sixth of nine children born to James and Ellen Haley Dunn. Growing up in the small city of Rome, New York gave her deep roots to family and faith.
Her gifts in teaching and faith development began early on as she took her role as teacher of her three younger siblings and presider at “mass” with them and neighborhood friends.
Mary Ann graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names – the last class before it closed in 1963. She entered the novitiate in Albany, New York; the third daughter in her family to become a Sister of the Holy Names.
Mary Ann has served at Blessed Sacrament School, in Washington, DC for the past 30 years. She began as a second grade teacher and was then invited to create a ministry as Director of Faith Formation within the school community. With its many opportunities for Education in the Faith, she considers this her “dream job”.
In this Jubilee Year, Mary Ann especially celebrates God’s loving Presence and faithful Guidance on her Journey. Her heart embraces the joys of many years of service to children, their families and school communities.
She is deeply grateful for the abundant blessings of Family, Community and Colleagues that have enriched her life and ministry.
