Barbara Land, SNJM

Sister Barbara (M. Joseph Benedict), a chemistry and math major, taught science and math courses in high schools in Salem, Medford and Portland, OR. Having honed her skills in computer technology along the way, she worked in Marylhurst University’s Development office. She added to her general knowledge by taking classes at Marylhurst and completing a certificate program in pastoral ministry. Barbara also worked in the Sisters’ infirmary at Marylhurst, caring for elder Sisters, and later used those skills when she was caregiver for her 90-year-old mother. Currently she is a member of the Mary’s Woods retirement community.
