You've heard of "Sunday in the Park with George,"

You've heard of "Sunday in the Park with George," but have you heard of Sunday in the garden with Sisters? These past few weeks, Holy Names Sisters have been passing garden photos back and forth and we wanted to share a few with you. Those with keen eyes will notice the hummingbird, swallowtail butterfly and American goldfinch hanging out with the flowers.

We wanted to share one more photo with you this week! Our archivists at the SNJM Heritage Center shared this photo of Sister Therese Cecile Murphy with a violin student working on technique. This photo represents something. We want to take our talents and gifts and share them with others. We want to empower young people and provide them with the support they need to succeed.

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada. The Canadian Museum of History has created a webpage to explore the work of First Nations artist Alex Janvier. His unique style of modernist abstraction is informed by the spiritual traditions and heritage of the Dene in northern Alberta. Check out Janvier's "Morning Star" mural on the ceiling of the Haida Gwaii Salon.

"Is that a turtle?"

A gopher tortoise, to be exact! Sister Kathleen and Sister Ann were witness to a rare gift this week—the tortoise spent over five hours digging her nest to lay her eggs right outside of where the Sisters were staying (the picture was taken through the screen door so as not to disturb the tortoise). The next morning you'd never even know she had been there! But in 70-100 days, her eggs will hatch and the hatchlings will follow their mother's scent to safe areas. Amazing!

Newly arrived refugees in Canada face many challenges, from overcoming language barriers to enrolling their children in school. Over the years, more than 300 refugees have found help, friendship and welcome at Angela Rose House, a ministry of the Sisters of the Holy Names in Windsor, Ontario. In the latest episode of our podcast, Angela Rose House Director Ilda Demir and two former refugees who have lived at the house share amazing stories of hope and transformed lives.
