Mercy Greenbrae Apartments at Marylhurst Commons opened in 2024, providing 100 units of affordable housing in Oregon’s Lake Oswego community.

Why SNJM Chose to Build Affordable Housing

When Marylhurst University closed in 2018, the campus reverted to the Sisters of the Holy Names. The looming question: What could be done with this beautiful campus to help meet a need? Guided by their core value of service to the community, the Sisters discerned their next steps.

Mercy Housing Northwest

Mercy Housing Northwest is a national nonprofit organization working to build affordable, low-income housing in Oregon, Washington and Idaho with a focus on providing community programs to support residents. The organization was founded by five religious communities (Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, Sisters of Providence, Dominican Sisters of Tacoma, Dominican Sisters of Adrian and SNJM).
