Pauline St. Louis, SNJM

ister Pauline St. Louis (Sister Virginia Marie) or Virg as she is known to many, Is a lifelong resident of Windsor, Ontario.  Born in Tecumseh, Ontario as a twin to Paul who survived a short time. This year,

Pauline  celebrates her 100th birthday (May 1, 2026)  and 80 years as a Sister of the Holy Names.

Education was Pauline’s primary ministry; a ministry she still loves. She taught in elementary schools for almost 20 years. She then taught science and mathematics at St. Mary’s Academy in Windsor until it closed and then at Assumption High School until she retired from classroom teaching in 1980.

Next, she gave her time and attention to SNJM community service, sharing her talents with the Ontario Province. She served on the provincial leadership team and then became the provincial treasurer for Ontario. Her final formal ministry was to serve for ten years as the local treasurer for Peter Street Residence, the retirement residence for the Holy Names Sisters in Windsor.

In 2006, Pauline officially retired to a life of prayer, ongoing service, study and sharing her wisdom with those lucky enough to encounter her.

In 2023, Pauline moved from apartment living to Devonshire Retirement Residence where she connects with people and enjoys the space. In 2025 and 2026, Pauline experienced health issues such as broken hips. Spent time in Rehab and was loved by all who helped her. As of June 2026, Pauline  lives at Huron Lodge, long term care residence owned and operated by City of Windsor. Staff love her. They would want 20 more Paulines!!

Those blessed to know Pauline are grateful for her warm heart, her wonderful smile, her deep interest in each person and her desire to be a positive and joyful presence in the world. Pauline loves to tell stories, to hear the stories others have to share and to laugh with friends.

Current events and justice matter to Pauline and she works to stay informed. Science continues to be an important part of her life; she especially enjoyed hearing about the recent moon mission and the Artemis II astronauts.

Pauline has deep faith in God and in God’s grace acting in our lives. Pauline cares about the Holy Names Congregation and its future, as well as her family and lifelong friends.

We are blessed to have her walk among us, and we give thanks for her 80 years as a Sister of the Holy Names that she celebrates this year and for her 100 years of life on Earth!
