Please join us in prayers of thanksgiving for the life of Marion Mills, SNJM. Sr. Marion was 90 years old. She had been a vowed member of our congregation since 1957.
We remember Marion as an educator with a long tenure in the classroom. She was an excellent teacher who was able to use her strong skills to meet the needs of her students and to help them find success. She taught everything from first grade through high school at various locations in the Bay Area, Southern California and in Peru. She loved her time in Peru, and it impacted her life on many levels. Marion was also a skilled administrator and leader. She served as a principal on two occasions.
After her retirement she continued to serve in the San Bernardino Diocese, helping as needed, offering her wisdom and sharing her gifts as a volunteer catechist, Eucharistic minister and lector. Marion was well known for her love of nature. She enjoyed being outdoors. She was a serious gardener who created beauty and shared the bounty of her work freely. She also cared deeply for our four-footed friends, especially cats. Marion was a good friend to many, especially to our Sisters, her co-workers and her neighbors. She was down to earth, easy to be with and outgoing. She enjoyed traveling, reading, being with people and of course, teaching. Marion was also deeply devoted to her family, especially to her brother’s family. We remember her for her generous spirit, her delightful gift of fun, her heartfelt service, her faithful friendships, her care for the created world, her deep love of our community and her deep faith in our loving God. May her memory be blessed.
