Sister Barbara Bray, SNJM departed this life on March 23, 2025 in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Sister Barbara celebrated 92 years of life and 72 years of her religious profession.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Chapel of the Holy Names in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Sister Barbara Bray, SNJM, 92, died on March 23 in Lake Oswego. Mass of Resurrection is Thursday, April 10, 11 a.m., Chapel of the Holy Names at Marylhurst, Lake Oswego.
Daughter of Edmund and Kathryn (Kenney) Bray, Barbara grew up in Portland. She joined the Holy Names Sisters in 1950 receiving the religious name Sister Mary Bernadette. She started as a music teacher, but went on to be a primary teacher for many years. In the 1970s she moved into parish ministry as a religious education coordinator. In 1999 she began a unique ministry of presence as a wheelchair pusher at PDX airport. She will be remembered for her gentle smile, her interest in those around her, and a prayerful spirit.
A Holy Names Sister for 72 years, Sister Barbara is survived by her nieces and nephews and the members of her religious community.
