Miriam Mark, fondly known as Minnie, was a lifelong educator who took great joy in her ministry. She began her years of ministry as a primary teacher and spent most of her career in schools in Southern California. She loved the younger students and had a wonderful way with them and with their parents. Her positive energy, clear expectations, playful heart and creative lessons made learning a grand adventure. She was also an enjoyable and supportive member of school staffs, mentoring and supporting newer teachers, and she was always willing to do what needed to be done for the good of all students. Minnie then served for several decades as a school principal at schools in Santa Cruz and San Gabriel, where her wisdom and leadership set positive tones for each school community. After she retired from formal education, Miriam Mark became an active volunteer serving on numerous committees. She especially loved to help prepare second graders for First Holy Communion. Additionally, Minnie played a pivotal role as the coordinator of the Marie Rose Guild in Southern California where, for many years, she worked alongside a team to organize their annual luncheons.
Minnie had a way of building community, leading volunteers and helping everyone feel valued. We remember her for her warm heart, her can do spirit, her love of stories, her deep sense of hope and her welcoming smile. We are grateful for her spirit of hospitality, her belief in education, her commitment to our congregation and her faith in our God. May her memory be blessed.
