Sr. Lucille is lovingly remembered by her SNJM Sisters, her siblings Frank, Edward and Bernard Mailloux. She is predeceased by her parents Leo Mailloux and Adeline Cadarette and her step-mother Rita Mahon and her siblings Louis, Fr. Thomas CSB, Lawrence, Eugene, John, Charles Mailloux and Mary (McMahon). Lucille graduated from St. Rose High School in Amherstburg. She excelled as a music teacher, organist and choir director. She obtained her bachelor of Music from the University of Montreal as well as a Masters in Piano Performance from Vincent d”Indy Music School in Montreal. Lucille taught piano and theory in Montreal, Amherstburg, Saint Mary”s Academy, Windsor and in Chicago, Illinois. Due to her hearing loss, she retired from music in 1982.
Lucille enjoyed a sabbatical year at Gonzaga University in Washington State, followed by a memorable trip to the Holy Land. She followed courses in Pastoral Ministry from Assumption and was hired by the Diocese of London to work as Pastoral Assistant at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Windsor, Ontario. For fifteen years, she enjoyed visiting the sick and elderly, sharing her deep faith with many and bending her listening ear to those in need. At our Peter Street Residence, Sr. Lucille rendered many services: driving sisters to appointments, preparing Sunday liturgies and joining seniors at playing cards. Her gentleness, her sympathetic spirit and her compassionate heart touched the lives of many who loved her.
In 2005, Sr. Lucille became a resident at Devonshire Retirement Home with seventeen sisters. She shared her life with many seniors and loved playing cards and Bingo. Her contagious smile won the hearts of many residents. She spent hours listening to classical music and doing Find a Word Puzzles. In spite of her limitations, Lucille desired to live fully and joyfully every day. She died peacefully with her Sisters praying by her side. Sincere thanks to Sr. Lucille”s private care-givers Ann Hansen and Lila Naud and her dedicated care-givers at Devonshire Retirement Home as well as the Staff of the Order of St. Elizabeth. We, her Sisters, are most grateful for their attentiveness and concern for Sr. Lucille.
