SNJM Celebrations for Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Across the U.S.-Ontario Province, Sisters and Associates joined to commemorate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in many ways, including Mass, sharing meals and spending time with students. Dec. 8 is a traditional day for Sisters to renew their vows and for Associates to renew their promises. Please see below for a slideshow of images from celebrations from around the Province.

  • At the Academy of the Holy Names, Albany

    Sisters and Associates joined the students and faculty at the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception. During the liturgy, Sisters renewed their vows and Associates renewed their commitments.
  • Lunch after Liturgy in Albany

  • A Dec. 8 Tradition in Los Gatos

    Several Sisters from Merrill Gardens, Our Lady of Fatima Villa and the local area joined the St. Mary School community for the Student Mass on Dec. 8. In a longstanding tradition, the Sisters renewed their vows, received a rose from the students and enjoyed a reception. This year, the kindergarten students entertained the Sisters during the reception and gave them handmade Christmas stockings filled with goodies. Stephanie Lynott, Associate and the fourth-grade class prepared the liturgy. Next year, they will include our local Associates in their renewal of promises.

  • Vow Renewal in Seattle

Julie Tilghman, a new Associate who is campus minister and religion teacher, renewed her promises as well.
  • Dec. 3 Gathering at Ramona Convent Secondary School

    Sisters and Associates gathered at Ramona Convent Secondary School to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday, Dec. 3. Eucharist was presided by Father Nick Reina, SDB. During the liturgy two new Associates were welcomed, Margaret Kaiser and Sharon Girolimon Corbitt. The Sisters renewed their vows and Associates renewed their promises. Afterward, Sisters, Associates, family members and invited guests enjoyed a delicious catered dinner. SNJM hospitality was at its very best!   • Celebration for the Yakima Valley Mission Centre

    Sisters and Associates of the Yakima Valley Mission Centre gathered at St. Paul's Cathedral in Yakima for Mass. During the Eucharist celebrated by Msgr. John Ecker, the Sisters and Associates renewed their vows and promises. It was extra special because some of the Mission Centre's Junior Associates joined the Mass and shared a meal with the Sisters and Associates.

  • Mass, Vow Renewal and Reception in Campbell, CA

    Sisters, Associates, Lay Consecrated and friends from Northern California gathered at Holy Spirit Chapel in Campbell, CA for Mass, renewal of vows and a reception in Durocher Hall. Jesuit friend Fr. Chuck Tilley celebrated the liturgy on Sunday, Dec. 4.
